December 9, 2022 —In January, The Admiral at the Lake hosted “The Admiral at the Lake Experience: A Resident Led Panel” a virtual discussion of the real-life experience of living at The Admiral by the Lake featuring our current residents.

Our Location and Amenities Get Top Billing
Residents on the panel highlighted the beautiful apartments at The Admiral at the Lake as well as the views and location, in the beautiful Edgewater neighborhood. With the unparalleled balcony and window views, residents can’t get enough of watching the ever-changing scenery across the Chicago landscape.
When they aren’t taking in the breathtaking sights from their apartments, our panel members expressed their love for taking in what the city of Chicago has to offer by exploring the walking paths and Foster Beach. The convenience of The Admiral’s location allows residents to easily engage in a variety of activities outside of the community grounds which is a big draw according to the panelists.
Outdoor walks and enjoying the beach aren’t the only activities The Admiral community participates in. With the easy public transportation options close by, getting downtown is as simple as can be. You’ll often find groups venturing out to enjoy the infamous Chicago shopping hot spots, like The Magnificent Mile, and Gold Coast.
For those who need transportation for everyday destinations and appointments, residents expressed their great appreciation for the shuttle bus provided by The Admiral at the Lake staff. When it comes to the staff, they don’t go unnoticed in the eyes of our residents as the panel characterized the whole community as caring and welcoming but also “unintrusive.”

“Initially, I was really averse to living in a high-rise like The Admiral but, as we walked the grounds at another CCRC with a campus-like structure, the convenience of taking an elevator to another floor and walking a few steps to visit another apartment compared to walking across a windy, cold plane even to go to the dining room became very attractive.”
“Moving day was the smoothest I’ve ever done and I’ve done several.”
“I was warmly welcomed. People were very open. That was one attraction. Another, actually, was that I just want to get downtown really quickly. I was still volunteering at a lot of things that were downtown…did a lot of shopping there and all of my cultural events were downtown and I certainly planned to continue to do that. I did not want to have to drive really far at night after the theater to come home. So, location was another big attraction.”
