Honoring Excellence Awards

The Honoring Excellence program represents eight awards from our state association LeadingAge Illinois bestowed upon individuals that make a lasting impact in the world of aging services. Although our staff nominates one person or program for an award each year, The Admiral at the Lake was lucky enough to receive three awards for our dedication to quality service.

The Admiral received the Community Impact Award for our Trash to Treasure program. This monthly effort usually serves as somewhat of a yard sale for staff, where once-loved items are repurposed and given new homes. Typically, the staff bring things like jewelry, glassware and other timeless items to the event to trade with their colleagues. Anything that’s not taken during the program’s run is donated to local charities. This past month, we invited residents to participate alongside the staff and we received a great response! Residents loved being involved, managing the giveaway day and donating items of their own. We are incredibly proud to be recognized for this effort dedicated to sustainability but we are even more ecstatic to have positively contributed to our local community of Uptown.

The “Hearts and Hands’” award was given to Rose Naval who has demonstrated exceptional relationships with residents and creatively seeks new opportunities for enrichment and engagement within our active community. The Admiral was fortunate to receive this award for two years in a row.

LeadingAge Illinois’ “Rising Star” award went to our own Nadine Zelle for her outstanding service within her first 24 months of employment at our senior living community. The recipient of this award is driven, enthusiastic and represents the standard of excellence LeadingAge organizations should strive for.

As this year was a virtual event, our CEO Nadia Geigler presented the awards to the recipients on behalf of LeadingAge. Our leadership team gathered together for the presentation and reflected on their achievements as a first-rate provider within aging services.

“We have much to be proud of as a community as there are many deserving people among us who are, in their own right, worthy of an award honoring excellence in the field of aging services, ” said Nadia. “Today, we celebrate Rose and Nadine and lift up the Trash to Treasure effort supported by many here. Congratulations to our Honoring Excellence 2021 winners!”
