What to Expect When You Tour The Admiral at the Lake

“I don’t want to sit through a sales spiel.”

“I don’t want to be asked a bunch of questions.”

“I really don’t have the time.”

“I don’t know if I can afford it.”

As a residency counselor here at The Admiral at the Lake (by the way, my name is Angela), those are all statements potential residents have made to me before they took a tour. Interestingly enough, once they did decide to take a tour, they all loved it.

Every Tour a Personal Tour

Angela

As a residency counselor at The Admiral at the Lake, I may ask you questions so I can make sure to cover your interests during your tour. If you love to work out, I’ll show you our heated indoor pool or some of our residents in a fitness class. If fine dining is your cup of tea, I’ll suggest you stop by during dinner so you can take in the ambience, lively conversation, and chef-prepared meals at The Waterfront. If you’re more concerned about the financial aspects of living here, I’ll gather up that information to give to you (and, yes, there are financial benefits).

If you only have 15 minutes for a tour, I can do that, too, although an additional 15 minutes really would help. To tell you the truth, I can try to cram everything here into 15 minutes, but The Admiral at the Lake has a lot to offer. Many people spend an extra half hour after the tour asking questions.

I Answer Your Questions

I also ask you questions because I want to make sure I’m prepared with answers.

Never hesitate to ask questions: If I don’t have the answer immediately, be assured I’ll find it quickly.

So many of our now-residents were really hesitant to ask me all the questions on their minds, but I welcome them. It’s my firm belief that the more you know about The Admiral at the Lake, the more you’ll love it here. Never feel as if your questions are too much trouble.

I Welcome You and Your Family

Bring your family along for a tour. I recognize the critical role your family plays in your life, so their questions are important.

I Love to Show Off The Admiral at the Lake

When I went on my first tour of The Admiral at the Lake, I was really impressed by the artworks in the halls that were created by residents, the two dining rooms, the pool and fitness center, the knowledge of other staff members, and the residents.

What impressed me the most — and continues to impress me — is the people who live at The Admiral. These people have not only accomplished astounding things, they continue to do so. I have learned so much from them, not just about their lives, but about what I can do with mine.

I Really Like The Admiral at the Lake

Sure, I’m a residency counselor here at The Admiral, but I could work anywhere. I’m not working just for a paycheck. I work here because I wanted to be part of an organization that is helping people. The Admiral at the Lake is a Kendal affiliate, which means we are nonprofit and our goals are to do everything we can to ensure our residents’ health and happiness. That’s something to believe in.

I not only believe in The Admiral at the Lake’s mission, I believe in the residents’ goals. Our residents are making a difference here, in the neighborhood, and in the city, state and world. They inspire me every day and make it easy to come to work.

Experience The Admiral at the Lake

If you’ve already toured but you’re still uncertain, we can offer you a “Try It” stay. Enjoy a day or two in one of our furnished apartments, and join our residents in their daily activities.

There are way too many programs here for me to list them all, but a few I haven’t already mentioned are educational and current event classes and lectures, craft classes in our arts-and-crafts center, woodworking, cards (especially bridge), and Goudy School volunteering. We also have resident-initiated groups that include gardening, amateur radio club, chorus, prayer, flower arranging, pets, Sarah’s Circle (a nearby women’s shelter), and sewing.

Arrange a Personal Tour

A tour shows you more about a senior living community than anything else. You get a real feel for the place, its residents, and its staff.

If you’re ready to join me (or one of my co-workers) for a tour of The Admiral at the Lake, simply fill out the form here or give us a call at (773) 433-1801. Tell them Angela sent you!
